Any hardware recommendations for those who are using SoapUI NG Pro with VPN?

Hi,

It seems that my laptop has already reached more than 2 years so it may be nearing it's expected lifespan. Any recommendations for those like me who intend to run SoapUI NG Pro with an application that is set to use up around 1GB RAM and connect to VPN so that I can consider it in purchasing my next unit? There are minimum system requirements for Ready!API listed here but still, the test stops from time to time with a "running out of memory" message. Also, the requirements only shows the processor (1GHz) but not dual-core or quad core. I talked to our delivery specialist before and she mentioned that our i3 desktops even if we have 8GB RAM are not designed for something like SoapUI NG Pro which needs multi-threading processors like i5 so I used my i5 laptop instead but this one's memory is only 4GB.

If you guys could provide an official reference for recommendations, it would be better for our next hardware procurement for the team.

  • Hardware requirements heavily depend on what tests you plan to be running. Here is what we consider a "recommended" configuration. Note that if you run heavy tests you would want more RAM and/or a better processor, especially so if you plan on running load tests.

      • Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4260U CPU @ 1.40GHz (4 CPUs)
      • Memory: 4096MB RAM
      • Operating System: Windows 10 Home 64-bit

Our IT guy already tried adding RAM on the i3 machines but performance during test runs remained the same so I bootcamp my MacbookAir. Unfortunately, I can't add RAM anymore, only Macbook Pro memories can be upgraded. I was told that this model's memory is directly connected to the board, not PNP. Will take note of these when I get another unit. Thanks :smileyhappy:
