Why can't I delete some releases?

Does anyone know why some Iterations/Builds in ALM can be deleted and others can’t? I’ve checked many different things such as status, dates, owners, having items linked, and status of linked items but I cannot find a pattern. Some of the Iterations/builds have the X for delete and others don't.

    Thank you for your post. You cannot delete Releases/Iterations/Builds that have linked items: http://screencast.com/t/2PAeKhrc10D

    You can make the Release Inactive to remove it from view, which preserves the history and ensure no orphan linked items.
