Test Sets - Transition From Tests

We will have multiple testers working on the same test set. Each tester will have tests that have been assigned to them. If they start to run the test set, as they pass/fail a test and go to the next one, will it take them to their next assigned test, or the next test in the entire set?

Test 1      Sara

Test 2      Pauline

Test 3      Sara

Test 4      Sara

Test 5      Linda

Test 6      Pauline

Test 7      Linda

Test 8      Pauline

Test 9      Pauline

Test 10    Linda

So if Sara completes Test 1 and clicks next, will QAC take her to Test 3 as that is the next test that is assigned to her, or will it take her to Test 2, as that is the next test in the set?

I heard from Support regarding this... Here is their reply:

We do not yet handle this - the test set is assigned to one person at a time.

This is a very high priority enhancement that we are currently working on.

the only way to handle this now is to split up the test sets to the separate assignees.

From my experience, when Sara completes Test 1 and clicks next, she will be taken to Test 2, regardless of who that test is assigned to.

My team has postponed adopting Test Sets because of this. We wish to organize test sets by sprint/functionality.

Only one person should run a test set.  Multiple people running the same test set will not be able to combine their efforts, rather all efforts will be duplicated.

Also, we found out the hard way, if you pause a test in a test set and then close out of ALM Complete, you lose all of your data for that test.  I believe this defect is currently being worked and should be resolved sometime in 2013

Brett, if you click "End Run", it should give you the option to Pause the test set.  Click the radio button for Pause and click OK.

Then regardless of your session activity, the next time you click Run for that test set, it will resume from where you left off (only for tests that were finished in that test run, either passed or failed).

True, the tool will let you pause in a session between tests. However, if you are in the middle of a test, you will lose all data when you restart.  No bueno!
