QAComplete and JIRA for Test Cases Only

Is there a way to directly link test cases in QAComplete to the JIRA Issues in JIRA without having to go through a Requirement sync. We want to manage test cases in QAComplete and the requirements in JIRA.  We just want to link the test cases to our JIRA User Stories. 

The only way I saw was to sync the requirements and then create the test cases against the QAComplete Requirements.  To verify that test cases have been successfully written I am assuming you would have to click on the QAComplete Requirement in JIRA and then link through to the test cases. Is this correct?
