Exporting Requirements Problem

I've tried exporting requirements from the SaaS version of ALMComplete but am experiencing data loss. More specifically, if a requirement has multiple lines (i.e. carriage return) only the first line is imported in the CSV export. This renders the CSV export useless.

What I would like to do is author requirements in ALMComplete as the master DB for requirements and then export them for use in shared documents with clients. But, so far I have not seen any easy way of doing this. I've tried the Reports function but it has too much formatting for my needs in the SaaS version.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
  • Hi Randy,

Sorry you're having trouble with the Requirement Export. I haven't heard of any issues with multiple lines in the Description (or other text) fields. Your data should be exporting with the entire contents, including line breakd, for all of the text fields.

If you're having trouble, would you mind letting our Support Team know? Just click on the Help Center link at the top right of your screen, then click Create Support Ticket, and send them an example CSV file so we can get it fixed up for you.

We do have Ad-Hoc reports that generate a spread-sheet like report for you. On the Reports tab, look for Ad-Hoc Detail, then look for the Requirements report. On this report you can decide which fields you want, you can filter the data, and then save it as a spreadsheet.

Let me know how it goes!

Wow, I must be loosing it. I just tried to reproduce this issue to create a support request and it is working fine. I was trying this a couple of days ago and _thought_ I was having the problem but the export looks good now.

My original observation must have been mistaken. My apologies for the confusion.
  • I love it when things fix themselves :)
