Yes I had a look on this page, I've run all the properties and Methods, but for all the Text Property or Visible Colum, or anything that should bring back the text it is displaying an empty result. Re: Text Recognize of TreeList Hi again, Thank you for your help. I was trying almost all the properties and methods, but I didn't find the items text, just the name of the columns.. Name, Tx Node and so on.. I was going through the TreeList Item.. and all I got is just the Name of column Text Recognize of TreeList Hello, I am trying to get the text from a TreeList. I attached the properties of this object and the object itself. I need to be able to get each line of text from this object, but the Text property is empty (as can be seen in the object browser). The number of visible columns is 5, and the visible columns list has this class name: DevExpress.XtraTreeList.ViewInfo.VisibleColumnsList. I am not sure if this is the right property in order to give the text back, but I tried to call it and this error occurs "System.ArgumentException: Object of type 'System.Int32' cannot be converted to type 'DevExpress.XtraTreeList.Columns.TreeListColumn'." I also found, this Text-Recognition-feature-does-not-work-for-NET-WinFormsObject. And it seems that is a possibilityto make TestComplete recognize the control as a tree view, but it's not explain how.If anyone could have a idea about this DevExpress and how could gave the text back, or if it's another property/method that I should try? Thank you! Re: Finding a word in txt file - Script TestComplete using Python Hi, Yes, I deleted if __name__ == '__main__': and it was working just fine. Thank you!!c Finding a word in txt file - Script TestComplete using Python HI there, I have this code in Python (it's working, it looks in a txt file for the word "Error" and when it's finding the word it's printing the line): filename = 'C:/Users/VAI3CLJ/Workspaces/error.log' def search(filename, text): with open(filename) as f: for line in f: if text in line: yield line if __name__ == '__main__': for result in search(filename, 'Error'): print(result) But I cannot figure it out, why when I am moving the code in TestComplete Script (Python) it's no working. Here is the TestComplete Script: def search_error(): filename = ProjectSuite.Path+"error.log" def search(filename, text): with open(filename) as f: for line in f: if text in line: yield line if __name__ == '__main__': for result in search(filename, 'Error'): Log.Message(result) Thank youfor yourkind help! SolvedRe: Text Property doesn't see the text (Desktop App) I can't write in the app log, doesn't have this feature. It has just some options after you right click: as Save, Copy to clipboard... so on. I tried to select some item and record that, and I get back this. And when I am looking for those items all I can find is the number of items... the text is empty. Re: Text Property doesn't see the text (Desktop App) Thank you for you answer! I already did that, I go through every property of every child.. but I didn't find anything. And it's very weird that the text properties look like this... empty (I attached e screenshot). And also, when I count the item of that app log it gives me back the right number of lines.. but I cannot get the lines. Text Property doesn't see the text (Desktop App) Hello all, I have a problem using the text property of an object (a log console which display the text, after I run a project in this EE app). I mapped the console ("Aliases.EE.EEMainWindow.DockHost_Application_Log.Application_Log.AdvLoggingCtrl.app_log") and I looked forward in its properties in order to get the text, but the text is empty even if in the EE app are some lines. I want to know how can I reach the text, and why the text property gives back emptiness and not the lines? Also, I would like to mention that I added the app log in the Properties-> Open Applications-> Text Recognition. I attached the properties in the pictures below, also the app log where the text is. Re: Passing variables from TC For the first answer: I already switch to txt file. Thank you!! For the second answer: In order to do that "You need the opposite - to assign the value of TestComplete variable to something external." it means that I have to use also a txt file to store that value? Or it can be done directly via something similar toProject.Variables.battery_colour = BuiltIn.ParamStr(<positionOfArgument>).split("=")[1] but in an opposite way? Because I don't understand exactly how something from exterior of TC will recognize the TC variable..maybe if I use thatenvironment variable but as you said not recommended. AlexKarasThank you for all of you answers, for me as a beginner are very helpful! Also thanks sonya_m for the heads up! Re: Checking the background color of an object on my GUI application I am looking forward for something like this, and I don't have a native property in Object Browser. Has the article also a version for python? Thank you!
