Re: A Tale Of Two Slaves GradyJr I've seen this Microsoft store popup locally when I start a keyword test. I cannot duplicate it regularly though. I've also seen the Windows\Settings dialog popup when kicking off a keyword test. And I've actually had both of them popup before. I've been unable to figure out what is going on though... Re: Searching for the mapped object took to much time...already As always, I very much appreciate the response Tristan. Great info and looks like I need to get to work! Thank you!! Searching for the mapped object took to much time...already Situation: I'm only 2+ months into the automation effort here and I'm already receiving the message above. The company hired a consultant to start the project. As far as I can tell after 2 days of reading on name mapping, the name mapping is in bad shape. It would appear that they have mapped virtually everything under one node. I created a branch yesterday and followed some of the documentation to mitigate this but then a lot of tests started failing. My questions: 1. How do I go about straightening this out? 2. I have found mappings that are 14 panels deep. Is this normal? 2b. When I'm in the name mapping file and have TC 'Highlight' the object. At least 3 or 4 of these panels point to the same panel. Is this normal? 3. When is it appropriate to use 'Extended Find'? I read a lot about what is does but not so much on when to use it? I ask b/c almost all objects in my name mapping have this enabled. 4. Is this going to be as difficult as I think it is to straighten out? Totally bummed...I would not have expected to deal with this for a very long time, if ever. SolvedRe: Project suite level persistent varible to control environments. Correct approach? Much appreciated Alex. Soaking it all in! Re: Project suite level persistent varible to control environments. Correct approach? Really appreicate you taking the time to answer thosetristaanogre I know they are rather subjective Project suite level persistent varible to control environments. Correct approach? I'm about 2 months into TC and a new job. Starting to find a groove with TC but wanted to ask the community some questions. I've spent a good amount of time reading about distributed testing but wanted to get some more experienced opinions. 1. Management would like to run the automation on different environments. A section of my url obviously controls which env I hit. Is my approach correct in creating a project suite level persistent variable to substitute for that portion of the url? 2. Sooner than later we will be switching to netsuites for distributed testing, does the approach above work in that environment? 3. If anyone has switched from straight keyword tests to distributed tests did you see a performance increase in the time it took to run the tests? I know distributed is not parallel is the reason I ask. 4. Little history, company is new to automation and QA in general. I have a team member that is worried sick about 'when' the automation takes 24 to 48 hours to run? How that effects the build process, how do we kick off the tests again? Is it a viable build if automation doesn't pass? What are the thresholds? etc. etc. All valid questions I admit but they haven't even decided on a CI/CD tool yet. How to I address his fears without stepping on his toes? Appreciate any and all experienced feedback. SolvedRe: Visual Studio 2019 and TestComplete14 - Test names do not appear Thank you Carson. Much appreciated! I knew it had to be configurable somewhere... Visual Studio 2019 and TestComplete14 - Test names do not appear I've got VS2019 Community and TC14. I have the integration setup but when I go to tests in VS I don't see the individual tests just 2 generically named tests (of which I don't know what they include). My question is why am I not seeing the tests I have in TC in VS? I thought it maybe b/c of the folder structure in TC but I've moved a test out to the root of KeywordTests folder and still nothing. This makes my integration almost useless. Any help in greatly appreciated. Photos of TC and how they appear in VS. SolvedRe: Nested if then's Thank you Tristan, I"ve read quite a few of your posts.
