Installing TestComplete 14 - Completely offline
Hey community, I'm trying to install TestComplete 14 on an isolated system which hasabsolutely NO access to the internet. Nonetheless, the procedure that SmartBear placed is to either use the .c2v/.v2c files to activate the license (internet needed) or install the license manager (internet needed). The product key is in fact available, but being able to activate it without an internet connection currently seems impossible. Has anyone encountered a fix to this? Thanks.Solved1.3KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Automate NameMapping of objects?
I agree 100% since I've experienced what you just mentioned word to word. Moreover, my thought process relies in the following, 1. Having a NameMapping tree that contains all existing objects in that software platform to it's full capacity without any individual property customization 2. Having an empty NameMapping file and manually mapping objects from scratch while choosing the desired properties as needed. I'm looking for the former being that it would speed things up initially (assuming it doesn't take too long to map everything in one go) and provide NameMapping system foundation for other projects that test the same software application. I'll probably be in the lookout for open-source software in the meantime. Thanks!1.8KViews0likes4CommentsRe: Automate NameMapping of objects?
You're absolutely right. TestComplete indeed does map the objects automatically. The current platform that I'm testing contains a "looooot" of objects that are eventually needed for testing purposes, hence going through the process of choosing to map all of its children automatically or manually. I'm trying to get rid of the repetitiveness of accepting the configuration for each object. And, I'm looking for a tool that will be able to accomplish such. I'm currently looking into pairing TestComplete with another desktop automation testing tool which will pull the active processes from the target application and inherently start mapping its children. This would theoretically reduce the need to map every object manually. Then again, it wouldn't account for an extra index or any other properties that are custom to the user's needs. Thus, the user would still need to polish the NameMapping tree, but it would already be there! Has anyone tested this before? Automating a section of another automation tool? And, does this actually sounds feasible? Thanks!Solved1.9KViews0likes8CommentsScraping data from a desktop application
Hey community, I'm currently looking for a way on how to extract data from a table within a desktop application which doesn't really play nice with TestComplete (for now!). I'm able to extract the number of columns and rows. Then again, when I try to access each element individually I get a value of null. The object I'm handling is identified as a sorted table which pretty much englobes the entire table and not each cell individually. Does anyone happen to know any solution on how to extract the text from each cell individually? Thanks!Solved2.7KViews0likes3CommentsPlacing NameMapping data into vars
Hey smartBear community! I was wondering if it's possible to place a specific object's Alias inside a variable once and re-use that variable throughout several scripts. For example, if I'm referencing the same object in three different scripts which run back to back, would it be possible to place it in a variable before running that "set" of scripts and simply do something like the following: Place this somewhere initially, header = Aliases...---------------------...label. Then reference that variable in the scripts without redeclaring that same variable again in each script, Script1: header.Click(); Script2: header.HoverMouse(); Script3 header.VisibleOnScreen(); In other words, I'm trying to create a bank of variables which I can freely choose upon within several scripts without having to type in the "Aliases..........." part over and over again, being that it becomes repetitive. Thanks for the help!Solved3.1KViews0likes8Comments
