Re: Microsoft Dynamics CRM dropdown list troubles
I figured it out! After going around and around working with Aliases, moving things around and finally doing a deep dive into TestComplete functionality I stumbled upon Image Based Actions in the Test Steps bar in the Workspace pane. This worked great. I open the dropdown and place the Image Based Action right after it opens. And it clicks on it. Seems to be working very well.1KViews0likes0CommentsMicrosoft Dynamics CRM dropdown list troubles
Hello there, I'm trying to select items from a dropdown list inside of our Microsoft Dynamics CRM instance. I've tried it both recording a Keyword Test and Recording a Script. I even have used the Object Spy to rename the (Excel) link and used Name mapping to move it to the top the of the hierarchy to better find it. It eventually works, but it takes forever to find the button and then press it. And even then it seems a tad wonky from time to time. I'm sure I can solve this using scripting. Any advice on how to attack this? Is there a better way to get this programmatically? Here is a bit of script that I recorded with the "Record Script" button. function Test1() { var browser; Browsers.Item(btChrome).Navigate("the crm page url no problems here"); browser = Aliases.browser; //below is where we click on the initial dropdown browser.pageTest16MainAs.panelCrmtopbar.panelCrmribbonmanager.link5.imageCommandbarmenudownPng.Click(5, 6); //clicking on the button browser.dropdownExcel.textnode.Click(31, 7); }Solved1.1KViews0likes1CommentRe: Cannot find Chrome PLUS Smartbear Test Extension not working
SOLVED: Finally got on a phone call with SmartBear Support. After digging through files and doing some detective work with Devin... Apparently there were some files missing inside of my SmartBear Extension file. Uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome 65. Uninstalled and reinstalled TestComplete 12.50 I must admit that I was apprehensive to uninstall TestComplete, had a weird licensing issue last time, and with the boss on vacation I was afraid it would resurface if I attempted it again. Would not suggest installing Chrome 66 at all! I think that was the crux of my problem. Methodically walking through the problem with TC support was the way to go. Learned a lot too! Thanks SmartBears!3KViews2likes0CommentsRe: Cannot find Chrome PLUS Smartbear Test Extension not working
UPDATE: 3 days in and still experiencing these issues. I have upgraded TC to 12.50 I have uninstalled and reinstalled Chrome 60,61,62... currently have given up and have 66 on there. The browser has been prepped and tweaked for TC. I have the SmartBear Extension enabled. I have rebooted multiple times. And I have opened a ticket. Waiting for a viable solution.929Views0likes1CommentRe: Cannot find Chrome PLUS Smartbear Test Extension not working
UPDATE: I have contacted support. They got back to me, suggesting I upgrade to 12.50 (which I already have). Finally figured out (with the help of one of our developers) on how to uninstall Chrome completely and installed an earlier version (Chrome 65) Went back in and followed all the suggestions for getting the browser configured the best way possible for TC (No updates, enable javascript, disable popups...) Tried to run a test got the same "Waiting for Page(*)" issue. It would open Chrome, but it couldn't seem to find it. (See pic below) Then tried to record a test to see if I could find it that way, and I get the "SmartBear TestComplete Extension is not enabled" issue. It is the current version of the SmartBear Test Extension and it IS enabled. My testing has ground to a complete halt. :(3.2KViews1like3CommentsRe: Cannot find Chrome PLUS Smartbear Test Extension not working
Hello my good friend Alex, :robotvery-happy: :robotvery-happy: :robotvery-happy: :robotvery-happy: This does look promising! But... (sorry there seems to be a "but"). Under the Chrome 66 slot it seems to say "The products support Chrome 65 out-of-the-box No patches needed." referring to the TestComplete 12.50.4142 build. Which I am running already. So, either there is a copy and paste misprint, or Chrome 66 is not quite ready to be supported yet. Or, for some weird reason I am just not seeing. Thank You for all of your efforts and communication. This does look promising.3.2KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Cannot find Chrome PLUS Smartbear Test Extension not working
Yeah, I get that. Not trying to throw any shade around really. Just trying to source a solution. Update: Tried to uninstall Chrome and install an older version. Apparently it takes an act of Congress, Starfleet and a notarized letter from the Illuminati to get it completely off the system. I keep getting a "There is currently a version of Chrome on your system..." message every time I try to install an older version of Chrome. Spent hours researching and drilling down to every possible file that would affect this, but I cannot get it to work. I have given up and just installed Chrome 66. I guess my question now is, when and what is the typical turnaround for SmartBear to get around to patching or fixing this?3.2KViews1like7CommentsRe: Cannot find Chrome PLUS Smartbear Test Extension not working
Hello Alex, I do agree with you about having my browser in a non-updating state. And I have done that in the past. But our end users will be using updated Chrome browsers to access the application. And I do strive to recreate as close to production that I can. Plus, this is the first time I have updated the browser in a while. I understand both sides of this coin, just a bit frustrating. I guess I will try downloading Chrome 65 and see if that works.3.3KViews0likes9CommentsCannot find Chrome PLUS Smartbear Test Extension not working
Upgraded to TestComplete 12.5 Now when I try to run a test which opens Chrome it opens Chrome, then gives me a "Waiting for Page('*')" and just sits there. It cannot seem to find the Chrome window. Also, while trying to diagnose what the problem is exactly, I attempted to record a new test. I open Chrome and when I try to do anything, it gives me a... "SmartBear Test Extension for Chrome is not enabled. TestComplete will not record any actions in Chrome until you enable it. To enable the extension, click "Enable this item" at the top of the page." and navigates to the Extension location in the Chrome store. It is installed already. It is enabled. I have tried updating Chrome, uninstalling the TC extension, reinstalling it, and re-enabling it. It is still not working. Every test I have designed hinges on this functionality.
