How do I map a child object using one of the parent object propeties
I am running TestComplete on a Silverlight web application and have a question. With the nature of our software, the listing of the Silverlight objects can change based on Runtime generation. There is a property of the Parent objects that never changes(it is related to the field in the Database in which the data resides). I would like my tests to recognize which object on the screen to interact with(I interact with the child objects) based on the property of the Parent. I understand this is worded somewhat poorly. I have a difficult time articulating exactly what I am seeing and what I believe I need. Essentially, I would like Testcomplete to recognized which child object I am interacting with based on a specific, unique, property of the Parent.1.2KViews0likes3CommentsRe: Silverlight Name Mapping recognition changes
Thankfully, between myself and a co-worker, we were able to solve this. There is an option in Current Project Settings>Open Applications>Silverlight>Extended Silverlight object tree Somehow this got turned on which caused objects to be named different when viewing in object browser1.1KViews2likes0CommentsSilverlight Name Mapping recognition changes
Hello All, I am using TC11.20.1491.7 I am having an issue where objects in a Silverlight Web Application are showing different name mappings. I can confirm that nothing with the application has changed since the test was recorded. Below I will show how the object recroded yesterday and how it is being record today Yesterday:Aliases["browser"]["pageMq1Elements244"]["formSilverlightcontrolhost"]["objectSilverlightcontrol"]["ExpandCollapseButton"] Today:Aliases["browser"]["Page"]("http://betaelements.qad.com/daily24/")["Panel"]("sl")["Form"]("silverlightControlHost")["Object"]("silverlightControl")["SlObject"]("MainPage", "")["SlObject"]("LeftSidebarView")["SlObject"]("ExpandCollapseButton")["SlObject"]("IconNormal") These are the mapped names for the same control in the application. I am at a loss as to why they look so different.Solved1.2KViews0likes1CommentSilverlight Object seems to change names after recording
I am hoping there some of you out there that work with Silverlight Web Applications. The issue I am running into is that when running my tests, I am finding some objects(buttons specifically) change name or # and that causes my tests to fail. I am aware it is most likely the application I am working with, but I am wondering if any of you have encountered this and possibly found a way to work around it. I found Silverlight a large PIA to work with and am glad we are switching to HTML in the near future(I don't think it has anything to do with TestComplete and think its mostly that Silverlight is junk).714Views0likes0Comments
