Yes, When you click save an ID is automatically generated on the form I have just input data to. This is the reference initially before I go and verify the grid with the details on. Matching a Wnd caption created ID to the output on a grid. Hi, Let me set the scene. I have a .net form that a user inputs data into. When you save the form an ID is generated and then obviously saved. My question: Is there a way I can match this generated ID (Which will change everytime) and match it to the saved record on the grid. So lets say it saves as 123 I then use TC to go to the saved record on the grid and find it has 1234 this would therefore mean the ID hasn't saved correctly. So How can I find out if this form matches this saved record despite it changing every time I run a test? Re: Issues with mapping. How woulod I go about doing the first suggestion and what are wildcards? Sorry Im still fairly new to TC and havent fully understood what it has to offer in these situations. Can you elaborate? Cheers Peter Issues with mapping. Hi, I'm having an issue which is very time consuming to rectify. Everytime I get a new software release which I then run tests on with Test Completes Keyword tests. I'm noticing that the mapping path has changed in several places. This then takes me 2 days to fix the tests to the new objects. Obviously going round in circles with this. The reality is the names of the objects will constantly change for better or worse. Is there an easier way to speed up this process other than me sifting through each test finding out whats wrong with them and trying to remap each individual test down to the last validation or click? Cheers Peter Re: Running TC crashes software in test. Hi Helen, I've done all that gone to upload my files and all it does is open a new support ticket so dont know if it's gone through or not either way theres no files attached is there any other way I can send you the files? Re: Running TC crashes software in test. Hi Colin, I've not done anything to my knowledge a user wouldn't do. I fire up the software in test I then start to navigate through the menus simply clicking the buttons on the screen. Then boom. It crashes. I've been working on it this afternoon and I've noticed now that when I fire up the software manually first. Then set the TC tests off running then I don't recieve any crashes. However if I invoke the software in test with test complete this is where I start getting the problems. I've used TC for 2 months now and this is the first time I've seen it react/behave in this way. So what I've done for now as a work around is to remove each test I create from firing up the software in test and closing it at the end of the test. This now appears to resolve the issue in terms of getting the tests to run. It doesn't solve the problem of what and why it's started to happen now. Re: TC Finding a button but doesn't click on it when the test is run Spot on everything you've said is correct and exactly what is happening. I'm quite stumped it's only started happening in the past week or so. Quite frustrating. I was hoping the latest update would help which I downloaded today but it hasn't. Thanks for your help with this though if anything I've learnt how to remap in runtime. Re: TC Finding a button but doesn't click on it when the test is run I've now managed to get the search button to be found and clicked however my software in test now crashes back to the desktop when clicked which is the same issue as another one I have raised today. TC keeps crashing the software as manually this clicks work. Re: TC Finding a button but doesn't click on it when the test is run Hi just tried the first suggestion put the breakpoint in and you are correct the search button isn't found. How would I rectify this? Re: TC version 11.2 unable to identify objects in object browser for web applications I second this in the desktop though. I can find the object I run the test then can't find the object. The test fails.
