How do I get rid of mail notifications by Smartbear?
Hi guys. I'm really pissed. SmartBear will not stop sending email although I unsubscribed five times and disabled all email notifications in my profile. I even contacted the senders and SmartBear support but the crap is still coming in. Is there any way to successfully unsubscribe apart from having our attorneys to take legal actions? That does not work either because the master and the slave project does not share a network suite. While the variables are available in the master project they are not available in the slave project. I'm looking fo a shared variable store.1.5KViews0likes0CommentsUse variables in a distributed test environemt
Hi, we are using TestExecute to run distributed tests on multiple hosts. Therefor we created a project suite and added a master and a slave project. The master project ha a single network suite and all tests are defined in the slave project. As we run the master project from our build environment we need to provide some values via command line parameters for TestExecute. These command line parameters are evaluated in the master project and stored in variables of the project suite. To test this approach I just added a script to the slave project that just logs the values of the variable. Unfortunately all variables are unassigned although the parsing function works fine. What's the correct way to pass variables to the slave project? Regards Kay Zumbusch1.6KViews0likes2CommentsSupport for headless execution of TestExecute
Hi, at the moment there seems to be no way to run TestExecute without a UI. As TestExecute supports distributed testing the host where the master project is executed does not need to have a UI for TestExecute. We would really like to see full headless support in TestExcute for distributed testing, unit tests or webservice tests as there is no UI involved at all. A headless mode would support easy integration into multiple build and continuous integration environments. TestExecute seems to be not very far away from that. We were able to start TestExecute from a Windows service without a desktop environment and even got the complete test result file but the TestComplete process did not finish and kept running indefinitly. Our sample test had a master project with just a NetworkSuite item and the slave project had a simple multiply test on Windows Calculator. The slave test got executed perfectly using automatic RDP login to multiple remote hosts and all tests were successful. Hi, as the Windows service of ContinuaCI can be run in interactive mode we decided to do just that. We keep the user running the ContinuaCI Agent logged on to the master machine and run TestExecute from that session. That even works if the session is locked. Alex, the permissions requirements for your idea are too vast for our concerns and adding psexec to that scenario is way too scary but it gave us some ideas how to improve security on our CI environment. Thanks for that. As there is no headless mode for TestExecute available at the moment I'll add a post to the feature request forum. Hi Alex, thanks for the help. I really appreciate it. I'll give it a try as soon as I can figure out how to setup a distributed test environment with a node locked evaluation license of TestComplete. Regards Kay Zumbusch4.9KViews0likes1CommentRe: Run TestExecute or TestComplete from Windows service
Hi, after studying the documentation on distributed testing I'd like to know if the following idea would work. We will create two test projects: - master project has just NetworkSuite configured - 15 virtual machines at the moment - logon set to "Automatic (RDP)" - slave project has all UI tests The master project is started from our Windows Service without any form of desktop environment using TestExecute command line. That should trigger the execution of the slave projects on all test environments registered with the NetworkSuite. The execution of the slave projects is executed sequentially if possible in order to keep license costs to a minimum. Time und utilization is not so important for our automated tests but 15+ floating TestExecute license is completely out of reach. As the master and the slave projects are executed by TestExecute on virtual machines we will have to purchase a second floating license for TestExecute. The main questions here are: Is it possible to run the master project without a desktop enviroment? Will the RDP connection to the slave nodes work? As I described in the Getting Started forum License Manager is quite picky about virtualized environments. As many companies have moved or are moving to fully virtualized environments like we did there should be full VM support for License Manager or an easy way to unlock the clone lock after a virtual machine failed over.2KViews1like0CommentsStable VM licensing for License Manager
Hi, our License Manager for TestComplete is installed on a virtual machine. We already received a working license file but the License Manager stopps working after the virtual machine fails over. Our VMware ESXI hosts are slightly different in installed CPUs (dual Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5620 @ 2.40GHz, dual Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5645 @ 2.40GHz). Really strange is that the License Manager kept working for a week after the latest failover. [edit] We found out why it kept working for a week. It was an online failover but we restarted the virtual computer today due to Windows updates [/edit]. Can we please get a license file for the License Manager and TestComplete that includes support for moving VMs? Hi there, we recently aquired TestComplete for automated setup, UI and web testing. These tests are run multiple times on different virtual machines on every operating system our application supports. My task is to include these automated tests into our existing build environment managed by VSoft Continua CI (https://www.finalbuilder.com/continua-ci). Using Continua CI agents I can distribute all build related tasks to multiple computers and one of these computers will be our main TestComplete host. The Continua CI agents are Windows services executed with the identity of a Windows Active Directory user account. As one of the support documents about Jenkins integration states that TestExecute needs an active desktop enviroment I'd like to know if it's even possible to run our TestComplete project from a Windows service.
