Visual Studio 2017 Version Control client appears to strip out TFS connection info
We have several TestComplete suites in source control in TFS 2013. When we open any of these projects in TestComplete 12.2 or 12.3 on a machine with Visual Studio 2017 installedTestComplete loses the source control tracking for that suite. If we open the same projects in TestComplete 12.2 or 12.3 on a machine with Visual Studio 2015 installedTestComplete works just fine with the source control tracking. I have examined the .pjs files in notepad on both machines and the<scc key=... is getting cleared out on the 2017 machines just with the act of opening the project suite. So far the Visual Studio 2017 machines also have Visual Studio 2015 installed on them as well. Is there a setting or configuration I can change to use the Visual Studio 2015 Version Control client? Or some other way to prevent TestComplete from stripping the scc key value out of the project suite? Thanks, Aerlock883Views1like0CommentsRe: have access to the name of the current test
Being able to reference the current test as an objectwould be helpful too. For exampleI am currently writing a bunch of new automation tests and find myself reusing several steps/tests with Code Expressions in them. These Code Expressions almost always reference the current Keyword Test using the KeywordTests.<TestName>.Variables.<Variable> format. Since I am copy/paste-ing these steps from test to test I frequently forget to go back and adjust my Code Expressions so I'll have onetest trying to evaluate a value from a completely different test. Havinga ThisTest.Variables.<Variable> objectinstead, so that when I copy/paste from one test to another I don't have to go in and fix it would be a BIG help.18KViews0likes0CommentsKeywordTests.<TestName> substitution in Code Expressions

I am working with a web project I have taken over from someone who is no longer with the company. The Name Mapping is in need of some TLC. We have hundreds of mapped items from dozens of different pages. There areitems from the same page that are mapped with their auto mapped names, items that are manually mapped, items that are mapped but showing under other pages, etc. These items are all over the tree. Is there a way to export/list the Name Mapping items and their Criteria and Values in such a manner that it can be printed out or browsed through in Excel or something similar so we can audit whats what without having to load up every single page and then browse the name mapping items in TC? djadhav wrote: I am not sure if you're doing this but if not, it should help. One of the best practices for testing web applications in a browser is that after every test case, the browser should be restarted (to ensure proper initliazation of the browser state and prevent interference between test cases). I do that for all my test suites and the browsers perform as expected. That is what I was doing already. Switching to reusing the same window seems to have resolved the issue. I'm not 100% sure that it is working this way because the suite has only been run a few times since I made the change yesterday. I also found references to apatch to address a memory issue in IE and other browsers. I have the patch but haven't applied it yet.2.1KViews0likes0CommentsInternet Explorer is becoming non-responsive
I have a relatively small test suite (60-80 tests) that we run nightly on a VM. Sometimes when this suite runs IE stops responding to Test complete and all the subsequent tests fail. When this happens the tests run but cannot find any objects to interact with. After the tests IE is just left up and running on the VM on the default home page. This isIE 11 and it should be all up to date. If it makes a difference the tests are being written in TestComplete 11.20 and run in Test Execute 11.20. Any help on how to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks, Aerlock2.1KViews0likes6CommentsCan you change the default source control check-in action
I am using TFS 2013 as my source control system. We have a check-in policy that requires a link to a work item on each check-in. Currently whenever I go to check in a changeand choose the work item the check in action defaults toResolve. Is there a way to change it to Associate? The Object Browser can see all the objects and I was hoping for some way to export from that with an ability to filter it by already mapped items. My plan was to generate a very spcific list of taskto be workedinstead of just a general "name all the things" task. This would give us better tracking and because we're dealing with very old code in some places, hopefully a way to overcome the "it mostly works, don't touch it" mentality that I've been butting heads with in the process of getting our app to the point of being able to automate it.2KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Getting a list of unmapped items on a web page?
I should have been clearer in my OP. I am looking for a report or export that I can hand to the devs and say "Here's what we need changed to fully support our automation efforts." Currently its alarge manual effort to go through and document all theobjects that are visible in the Object browser but for one reason or another (usually name, id, or both are missing or unusable) are un-mappable.2KViews0likes4Comments
