Re: Find a child with required Grand children
The more you deal the scenario with dynamic data, go for descriptive programming. Don't try to add up every change in an application component as a namemap or aliases in repository. Better store the required "Parent" object in the namemap and the whatever child/grandchild you look for could be just found using "TestObj.WaitChild(ChildName,WaitTime)" If found you can set that as object and do the necessary steps.617Views0likes0CommentsRe: how to use same mapping for different run time objects.
Srinivasan, Hope the object/variable refers to single "namemap/aliases" all the time irrespective of number of instances/variables/object you create for all of those which you assign different state of the application component that you deal. since all variables refer to the same/single namemap and whenver you refresh the objectmap, the latest state of the application component will be reflected to all the variables those holds the reference of that namemap. Instead of trying to assingn & retain the different state to different varaibles/object, you can get the state of the object(application component) during run-time which means that you should retrive the dynamically changing property of the namemap & verify with a condition of what you look for, when it matches, then do the task what you intended to do for that component with that particular state. To find the right component possessing the required/specific state/property loop through the available similar components how much ever is currently running. The core idea/functionality of TestComplete is that it looks for the "process" running in machine to identify the root of each namemap we do.1.7KViews0likes0CommentsOutlook opens unexpectedly while break-point is used or when using debug "Watch" window
Outlook opens unexpectedly while break-point is used or when using debug "Watch" window. I'm using Microsoft Excel object for retrieving "Test Data" at framework level. Will that causes or relates in anyway to this issue? How to handle this problem? I would like to know soultions & suggestions from my dear professionals.2.8KViews0likes6CommentsHow to identify/(extract data from) particular row/col/cell in an object that has data in tabular/grid form?
How to identify/(extract data from) particular row/col/cell in an object that has data in tabular/grid form that doesn't support the below properties: DataColCnt DataRowCnt GetText Is there any other properties/methods that helps toidentify/(extract data from) particular row/col/cell in an object that has data in tabular/grid form? Hi David, It seems hard to retrieve the right thing from the search of help functionality, this is because often we don't know to provide the right key word that points to the tool oriented technical words/terminalogy. So try to search using alternate words as key words so that you can find it in practice.2.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Object Not Found
Hi David, Either you can assign the unique property for a particular object while namemapping it (in object spy window) or you can do that on an already namemapped object just by double clicking on that object in the namemapping window (not object spy) that appears when you open the "Namemapping" Test Item from the project explorer panel. The step that actully helps you to assign the property is by either double clicking on the required (unique) property that you feel/identified from the list on the right side (properties panel) of the window that appears when you do the action in previous statement or just single click on the property and then clicking left arrow blue button/icon. After this the property assigned in the left column of that window assures that you have assined this property to that object. Also you can find the sample image file in the attachment to know how it appears.2.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Object Not Found
In general, when you change the enviroment, there might be some changes in the properties of object even if it looks similar by the way it appear yet it differs. So try to assign unique property while namemapping so that the property must be reflected in both environments as same.2.1KViews1like0CommentsHow to handle "Exists" property? It throws "error" when certain object doesn't exist instead of throwing it as "False"
Consider the below scenario ********** If object.Exists Then 'Action to be done when object is present Else 'Action to be done when object is not present End If ********** Problem:while 'm trying to perform"Else"part actions, it is preceeded by an"Error Log"where as i don't want that to be an error instead i want to perform some action in that else part without error log. How could i do this? Expecting solutions & suggestions from my dear professionals!Solved3KViews0likes3Comments
