Re: Namemapping buttons on webpage is inconsistent
Hi Tanya, I was using automatic NameMapping. Now that I'm looking it the items you listed I can see the identification properties are different. I'm not sure why, but I can understand why that causes a problem. It looks like it grabbed ObjectType, ProcessName, and Index. In the future when I go to map a new button, how can I set the Browser properties so they match the existing NameMapping for Browser? Thanks, David1.7KViews0likes0CommentsRe: TestComplete won't click a tabpage
Hi, Thanks again. You asked if I was sure if the tabpage could react to a middle mouse click. I wasn't sure what you meant by 'middle mouse click' other than clicking it in the middle - which is the ClickM operation. Did you mean am I sure I can click on the tab? If so, then yes, after my auto test fails it stops right at that point. Clicking the tabpage manually works fine, it's basically just a button. Hi, Thanks for the post. I'm fairly new to TestComplete. From your response, are you suggesting that a ClickM event may fail but a Click event will succeed with some objects? I can try switching it, but I'm really quite curious to know if ClickM is less reliable than Click? That would be a real surprise to me and something it'd be nice to know. I'm setting up my tests normally using ClickM because it seems 'better' to me than Click. Thanks, David1.9KViews0likes0CommentsTestComplete won't click a tabpage
Hi, I'm having a problem with TestComplete 10 clicking a Home tab. This is pretty odd, the click event is within an If Object call and I've adding Logging so I can see the branch is getting executed. No errors are reported, and the Log 'shows' the click and it should be succeeding... The NameMapping had no difficulty mapping the object and if I try to trace it thru the name map or the object browser it identifies the tabpage immediately and succeeds each time I use the right-click, Highlight on screen option. If anyone has run into something like this before and can offer some advice it'd be appreciated. Thanks, David3.9KViews0likes5CommentsRe: Problem with IE and downloading/saving files to desktop
Hi Tanya, Thanks for the info. If that's the right way to do it then I will remove the steps from my test that interact with IE's Save dialog and try to implement your suggestion. Could you be a little more descriptive though when you say UI Automation? This is the record & playback novice in me speaking, but what are you referring to as UI Automation? That's what I think I'm doing with TestComplete now. Thanks, David8.1KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Problem with IE and downloading/saving files to desktop
Hi Tanya, Yes there are 2 views. I'm trying to map the Save button on the first view - that's where I have problems consistently. Thanks Alexei! I added DirectUIHWND, #32770 and UIAObject to MSAA under Tools - Current Project - Open Applications and at least for this morning it's working well. It's picking up the Save button every time so far. It is recognizing the object now as SplitButton("Save") but that's an easy update. Hi, I was wondering if anyone has a problem with the popup dialog in IE that they use to open or save files when downloading documents? The object browser calls this the Frame Notification Bar in general and it's apparently composed of several UIAObject("Notification"). I'm having inconsistent results when mapping it. Some elements seem to be easily accessible (the text and Close buttons for example never fail). The other buttons though, they work sometimes and other times fail "Object not found." I've been able at times to map the buttons easily only to right-click and test "Highlight object on Screen" and watch it fail. Other times the object spy picks the Save button right up, but if I try to map it the window frame is as deep as the recognition by TestComplete goes. It seems to work the first time my test runs, but only that first time. If anyone else out there has had problems with this popup I'd really appreciate a few pointers on how to reliably get it to work. I'm using keyword tests on TC10 on IE11. I've put a few screenshots up. The first simply shows the IE dialog. Then I show it in the Object Browser, etc. Thanks, David11KViews0likes8CommentsRe: Error launching Firefox using Run Browser keyword action
Hi Chris, I think Firefox and Chrome are close, but yeah Cross Browser testing seems to have issues with IE 11 (or maybe it's just my inexperienced approaches). I checked my Object Browser based on your screenshot and it's interesting. On my machine TC recognizes FF, IE, and Chrome all as browsers. Hi, I think I found a solution. Use "If Object" instead of "If...Then" when checking to see if a process Exists. I'm still not sure why If...Then fails, but If Object doesn't give an error. Hopefully this will be useful to someone else out there. David1.9KViews0likes0Comments
