Merge individual Name Mapping Items
Today I went to update a project and found that when I went to record some new parts I was getting a different name for the same base object. Example: Aliases.Program.frmMaster.rbnFileMenu <- old Aliases.Program.frmMaster_new.rbFileMenu <-new These are both referencing the same object and they both have similar (although slightly different) descendants. I suppose I could just go with it and use the new name wherever I need to but I feel like it would be cleaner code (and name mapping) just to have everything that descends from frmMaster be in the same place. I looked around for a way to merge them but I didn't see anything. Anybody have any ideas?10KViews0likes1CommentStarting some light testing
I'm planning on starting some load testing for my company's website. I was planning on just using Test Complete's suite of tools, but it seems like they're going to be replaced by Load Complete. However, Load Complete seems like a very expensive and a bit overkill product for the relatively small amount of testing I plan to do. Are the current features in Test Complete for load testing going to stay in Test Complete for long time? Or are they going to be removed in some new release? Alternatively, is there any way to get a lighter form of Load Complete?9.8KViews0likes1CommentRe: Object spy disappears when running project
I'm not wanting to keep it open to use during the tests, I want to keep it open to use immediately after the test to compare results I got in TestComplete with fields inside of the actual application I'm testing. However, I was just testing some with the Object browser (as opposed to the Object spy) and it doesn't get reset.. I thought I had tried that before but I guess not. Now I'll just set that to a hotkey and I'll be set. Thanks for that help, I hadn't even seen those hotkey options before.631Views0likes0CommentsObject spy disappears when running project
I've been using the object spy a lot recently to view the internal fields of a program I'm testing. The annoying part is that every time I want to check what I've written in TestComplete against the program, TestComplete closes the object spy when it runs.. Which means when I go to compare my results with the programs I have to open up the object spy and dig all the back to where the data I need is. I'm assuming this is done for a reason that has something to do with the way TestComplete runs.. but I'd really appreciate it if the Object Spy just stayed open where it was if at all possible. (All the above goes for the Object Browser too...)28KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Blue screen of death using Allocation profiler
Seems like the problem might be running the Allocation profiler while I have a VirtualBox machine running... interesting.. won't be an issue anymore though because the blue screen seems to have corrupted my virtual machine beyond repair. Nothing lost fortunately.13 years agoPlace AQtime QuestionsAQtime Questions1.2KViews0likes0CommentsRe: Blue screen of death using Allocation profiler
More blue pixels today.. this time trying out the Performance Profiler. The message at the top said "Modification of system code or a critical data structure was detected." Googled it and I the best results I saw were to check my memory.. but this problem is only happening when I use AQtime so I'm not sure if I really should. Might run some memory tests tonight just for the sake of it. Although I'm still only getting the blue screen on our main software application, another smaller/lighter application is freezing up with the windows ".. has stopped working message" using the Allocation profiler, some of the time. It's a shame too, the first time it worked and I actually managed to see some improvements I could make to my code (just freeing some objects up) and now I want to the see if the improvements solved all the leftover objects.. but now it freezes every time right when I close the program.13 years agoPlace AQtime QuestionsAQtime Questions1.2KViews0likes0CommentsBlue screen of death using Allocation profiler
I'm not having much luck using some of AQtime's more in depth profilers. I tried using the Reference Count Profiler and the program got a "<name>.exe has stopped working" error. I tried use the Allocation profiler and I consistently get the blue screen of death although not always at the same place/time. I remember using these same profilers a year or so ago without this issue. I'm not really expecting much in terms of resolving this but I figured I'd say something. AQtime 7.30.537.64, Windows 7 Premium 64bit, plenty of memory and cpu power for everyone... The software I'm testing is written in Delphi, I'll be experimenting with some other Delphi software we have and see if I get more problems.13 years agoPlace AQtime QuestionsAQtime Questions11KViews0likes4CommentsClosing a tab in the testcomplete workspace changes the open tab
I've noticed that when I close a tab, and the index of the currently active tab is higher than index of the tab I close, that the tab I'm on will change by one off. Example: I have test complete open with the startpage (tab 1), a scripting unit (tab 2), and test results (tab 3). If I have the test results selected as the active tab, and then close the start page (without activating it), the workspace will automatically set my selected tab to the scripting unit. This seems rather pointless and in my case usually unwanted. Any thoughts on this? I'm not really sure if it's intentional or not.. I just find it rather annoying because I encounter this when I'm trying to clean up lots of open tabs and I would rather just have the selected tab stay selected the entire time. Test Complete v 8.60 if it matters.21KViews0likes2CommentsRe: Picture splice/merge possible?
Alex, thanks! That works pretty close to what I wanted. I should have tried it the first time, but I thought that you were talking about comparing images for content.. which it seems compare is primarily meant for but it works decently for just seeing two pictures in the log. I feel like this could be made a slightly bigger feature, but then again I'm not sure how often it would be used.1.5KViews0likes0Comments
