Re: IE: "Browser" vs. "Process"
Hi, In any case, either Process or Browser, TC should work with both the objects. Its how you call the objects in your tests. There could be other considerations though, 1. Check if other browser window is already not running 2. Check if you have applied any process filter in object browser panel Have you tried restarting TC and checking if it works.1.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: What else is .Keys doing besides entering characters?
Hi Joel, I can think of an alternative to use KeyPressUp, KeyPressDown methods to simulate particular keys. This would be little lengthy but might avoid from triggering your functional validations. The Keys method internally simulates the same thing like For Ex- TestObj.Keys("123") Then it would be something like TestObj.KeyPressDown("1") TestObj.KeyPressUp("1") TestObj.KeyPressDown("2") TestObj.KeyPressUp("2") TestObj.KeyPressDown("3") TestObj.KeyPressUp("3") But you don't have control on individual key press events. If you individually use these methods, it may not trigger the validations. Good luck.958Views0likes0CommentsRe: What else is .Keys doing besides entering characters?
Hi Joel, There could be couple of suggestions. 1. Have you tried immediately performing the next operation after keys method instead of tabbing out. It may happen that before you tab out, the curson goes to some other field and then when you tab out, the focus goes back to the first field. And then next field might be yours which gets focus back again. 2. Have you tried using Esc key which might allow the field to be out of focus and trigger required validations. Thanks so much to all of you community experts and developers. I am feeling satisfied and hoping for the best. Thanks in advance. Meanwhile I would also like to get some inputs from you guys about another issue I have raised on this thread. http://smartbear.com/forums/f75/t91821/how-do-we-start-debugging-of-web-appliaction-us/ Just in case, if we have any workaround to capture errors or exceptions happening in running client javascript code using IE/FF/Chrome developer tools? Thanks in advance. :)1.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: How do we start debugging of web appliaction using IE developer tools from within TestComplete
Yes I will if that gets through. I just wanted to check with community first that if someone already tried their hands with this :-) You know why to re-invent the wheel in first place :)1.5KViews0likes0CommentsRe: JScript vs Vbscript for web applications
Thanks Alex for the inputs. I just wanted to make sure that there's no major road block in future in case such situation arises(just in case) Anyway, I did opted out for Jscript. I am liking it so far, no wonders it has some nice pluses which come in handy. I have ported some of my vbscript code to Jscript code which was related to working with excel. Yes I have used build-in functions making sure that they are easily adopted by any language. And it worked just fine :-).1.4KViews0likes0CommentsRe: How do we start debugging of web appliaction using IE developer tools from within TestComplete
Thanks Jose for the idea. I was thinking of using API of IE developer tools if that is supported or any workaround to use from built-in .Net functions. If that works then probably all functions of IE developer tools can be used like Response times, profiler tools etc which would be even more handy :-)1.5KViews0likes0CommentsHow do we start debugging of web appliaction using IE developer tools from within TestComplete
Hi, Is there a way to run debugger of IE developer tools while simulating user actions on the AUT and capturing the errors and exceptions in test log. This way, errors are exceptions are caught by default while execution of functional tests. I know if script debugger setting for IE is enabled then IE itself throws error dialog while rendering the page. But this dialog would then need to be handled separately. What is required is capture the debug errors/exceptions silently in the background and still carry on the functional tests without being disturbed. Any ideas? Thanks, Shrirang2.4KViews0likes4Comments
