Make a curl call to TestEngine from a GitLab Runner? Anyone have any luck with this? ...
I have a ReadyAPI project and Excel data file in a .zip that I can run from a PC using curl with no problems, it works fine. But now I have the .zip in our GitLab in its own repo. I have a valid .gitlab-ci.yml file that executes when a make a change in the project. But I'd like to run that curl command to send my project .zip file to TestEngine but not sure how. What kind of command string should I be using in my gitlab-ci.yml file to do this? How can I pass the .zip in that repo to TestEngine from the GitLab Runner? Thanks very much in advance!714Views0likes0CommentsRe: ReadyAPI/TestEngine: Could use some guidance re paths to referenced Excel data files ...
Thanks, Rao. It's a pretty simply project. I noticed this snippet, and I'm definitely experiencing it. https://support.smartbear.com/testengine/docs/how-to/run-test.html "ReadyAPI may not detect some external dependencies when gathering files (for example, it does not add files you use in scripts). We recommend you open the created package and check whether all the needed files are packed. In case the package does not have all the needed files, you must add them manually. Do not forget to change the path to the files in the project. Use relative paths where it is possible." It’s funny to see this, because out of curiosity I just manually added the .xls to the .zip and it does work for me then in TestEngine. But I was hoping to be able to skip that since I plan to script all of this.3 years agoPlace ReadyAPI QuestionsReadyAPI Questions612Views1like0Comments- 3 years agoPlace ReadyAPI QuestionsReadyAPI Questions856Views1like0Comments

What's the preferred way to share a project w someone? I’ve been exporting the project to a .zip, and then using the .zip for both TestEngine, and sharing the project with my peer. But is that the correct/preferred way to do it? Should I be using Export for TestEngine and Save As to collaborate with others? I've got a ReadyAPI project that works fine for me locally. It also works with TestEngine when I export the project to a .zip file. Previously, the DataSource object pointed to the Excel data file (used for input and output) with syntax like this, but I would get errors when running with TestEngine, it couldn't find the data file: Example Path To Data File Syntax:${#TestCase#DataPath}/${#TestCase#tcFileName} So in the project in ReadyAPI I switched the syntax to look similar to this and it now works in TestEngine: Example Path To Data File Syntax:c:\repos\MyProj1\Project\dev\data What is the recommended way to deal with this? And when I send this project to a coworker to import on his machine, will it not work if doesn't import the project into the *exact* same folder structure? Can TestEngine work with a Composite type ReadyAPI project?
Can TestEngine work with a Composite type ReadyAPI project? I've made a couple simple regular ReadyAPI projects and they work with TestEngine. But our main _real_ project is a composite project. If it does work, any notable caveats or gotchas? Thanks very much in advance!Solved944Views0likes2CommentsRe: Getting results when using TestEngine as a container? ...
Thanks very much, mattb.Yes, this would be part of a CI/CD system. I'm trying to get my hands around what I'll need and what the loose ends are. With ReadyAPI I see the results in the app and in the .xls we use for data. I wasn't sure how TestEngine in a container handled this. Can you share links to any more of the solutions you refer to? Thanks again!3 years agoPlace ReadyAPI QuestionsReadyAPI Questions993Views0likes1CommentGetting results when using TestEngine as a container? ...
We use ReadyAPI stand-alone, and are going down the path of using TestEngine to run tests as part of our CI/CD pipeline. I see that TestEngine when running continuously has a web interface where I think you can see results. But how is this handled when using it as a container that instantiates when needed and then goes-away when the tests are complete? How do you see results? Thanks very much in advance.Solved1KViews0likes3Comments
