Test cycle and execution records missing
1. We started using Zephyr squad on trial. We added test cases with steps and executed them in multiple test cycles.
2. On 12th Oct, all the test cases stopped showing the Description, test details and execution options for the issue type 'Test'. Checked the zephyr plugin in Jira apps, and it was showing 'This app was added on Oct 12th 2021'.
3. Checked the JIRA issue settings and observed that there was another issue type 'Test' with label Test in Japanese language added.
4. We moved one of the old test from old 'Test' issue type to new (Japanese)'Test' issue type and it started showing all the details like description and test details and test execution buttons on top for the ticket. so we moved all our test tickets from old issue type to new test issue type to fix the problem.
Now, we have all the test cases with description and test details. And came across another problem!
All the existing test cycles and test execution records disappeared. They are no more linked to the tickets and the test cycles are not present which were created during the trial period.
Need help!!! The execution data is for 2 releases which has screenshots, custom field data and results(pass/fail) distributed across different cycles.
@JagadeshMadhura can you please help? It looks related to some of the posts you've commented on.
As we've already moved ticket from Eng Test issue type to Jap Test issue type, wondering if we will lose any data in the process?
(Support ticket raised.)

Hi testersk,
We can map proper "Test" issuetype from our end and there won't be any data loss. Can you please share support ticket, I can check this issue internally and get back to you.
Thanks

Hi,
we have the same issue, suddenly during the weekend 16-17. october, no jira tests are connected to the testcycles.
Please help as this is our testdocumentation and now we have lost all the status of tests in all testcycles.

HI @Jener ,
This is issue for only few customers.
There was a new version of Zephyr that was released (8.0.1) over the weekend (10/9-10/10) which is what has caused this issue. We have already identified a root cause and will be deploying a fix so that it does not impact any more customers.
Root Cause
We had earlier (couple of weeks back) fixed an issue with some language settings that would check and automatically create TEST issue type for different languages. During 8.0.1 release since there were Atlassian descriptor changes this effectively re-installed the application which triggered the language change to kick in and it has incorrectly modified the registered TEST issue type. This has not resulted in any data loss and all the data is still available.
Next Steps
If you/your instance has been impacted, please reach out to our support so that we can manually reset your TEST ID which should bring your tests back and should restore full functionality.
Thanks
