I am interested in moving a select number of tests from the repository into planning. It seems the only way to do this is to do the sync which brings everything. I would like to be able to select what I want to bring over. Is this possible?

If you planned this by folder, there is no way to pick and chose which test cases, it will bring all the new ones in.
Alternatively, you could try to make a new cycle for this purpose and pick test cases manually or by using search.
