TimeOut Event Handling

While exploriung to write Even handling, found that if we specify  TimeOut=1m in Project TestItem, the exception handling is working fine.

if we specify Auto-wait Time out, the event handler is not executed, as is there any other way to handle modal windows that comes during runtime
