TestComplete 12.40 is available

Greetings!

We have just released a new version of TestComplete - v. 12.40. Be the first to check it out! Sign in to your SmartBear account to download the new version or request a trial.

We've made several enhancements and improvements in 12.40. Here are some of the highlights:

  • 64-bit support: Going forward, we will release both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of TestComplete and TestExecute. You can now take advantage of the 64-bit operating system prowess, enabling you to execute larger test sets. Projects created in the 64-bit version can be opened on the 32-bit version and vice versa. Important: Switching to the 64-bit version may require that you change your test environments and projects. For example, if your data-driven tests read data from Excel, .csv or other data files, the test engine is most likely using the Microsoft Access Database Engine driver. TestComplete x64 cannot use the 32-bit version of this driver. You will need to install the 64-bit version of the driver on test computers, where you are going to run the 64-bit version of TestComplete or TestExecute.
  • Quick checkpoints: You can create property checkpoints for desktop and web applications during test recording using our new "Quick Checkpoints" feature.
  • Enhanced CrossBrowserTesting integration: We've made several improvements to the CrossBrowserTesting integration. These include:
    • Local connections to your website under test
    • Support for external project items and arbitrary files within the CrossBrowserTesting cloud
    • Run data-driven tests from Excel and CSV files through DB Table variables
  • Built-in chat for trial users: As trial users, you can now chat with our engineers real-time to help you get up to speed faster and resolve any issues you may have.
  • Java 9 support: We support the new Java 9 build for both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of TestComplete 12.40. This also includes testing of Android applications created with the Java 9 compiler.
  • Scripting improvements: We've made several improvements to help you script yours tests faster and better. The full list can be found here.
  • Mobile testing improvements: The biggest improvement here is connecting to test devices using Wi-Fi. You can create and run tests on your devices from any computer in your network. The full list can be found here.
  • Browser support: TestComplete 12.40 now supports:
    • Chromium Embedded Framework (CEF) ver. 3.2883.1553
    • Mozilla Firefox 52-55
    • Google Chrome 61

I was told version 12.4 would have a fix for an issue where installing 12.3 on desktops with RAID caused a blue screen of death on installation. Is that fix in 12.4? Thanks,

    Andy

That would be something for the SmartBear folks to answer.  Looking at the list of bugs corrected, I don't see anything explicit but the bug corrections seem to be more oriented to the application itself and not to the installation process so...  guess ya need to wait for someone official to answer, or you could contact your SmartBear directly
