Test Complete and VPN
We have noticesd that Test Complete will not always find the browser if the browser is not top level at the same time with Test Complete (ie: split screen).
Has anyone else experienced this and how was it resolved?

Not sure what you mean by split screen.
TestComplete and whatever browser or app you are testing have to be on the same machine. If you are trying to test across a VPN with TestComplete on one machine and the browser on another, that's not going to work.

Marsha, we are running every thing on the same machine, just logged into a VPN session.
We are running all the apps on the same machine. However if TC runs and launches a browser that is “on top” of TC… TC will not find objects stating “Cannot highlight this object on screen”. HOWEVER, If I have TC on the left 50% of the screen and the browser on the right 50% - it finds the objects.

Use this setting to minimize TC while the test is running. That should help.

ok, so the solution is actually only partially working. Still does not work when test run stopped and we are trying to use the “Highlight” for a mapped object that is definitely on the page. It just blinks the chrome icon and then this popup shows up. See screenshot ...

I don't see anything in your screenshot except TestComplete. If you can't see the object, TestComplete can't either.

Marsha,
i have attached a video which I hope clarifies the issue we are having. If TC is full screen, it works as expected, finding the object even though the browser is behind TC.
Seems to me it just makes sense this is correct behavior… otherwise it suggests you could never work with TC in full screen on a single screen.
When onsite with 2 monitors, this is not an issue, it occurs when you are offsite and running the tests on a VPN connection .

It would actually help more to see the failure.
