Running projectsuite created in TestComplete12 from TestExecute11

Hi,

One of team member is getting error -- cannot open "C:\....path of project suite" because it is not a valid project or project suite.

Created this projectsuite in Testcomplete12 and running it from Test Execute11 in other machine. Is there compatibility issue here?

Thanks for your help.

  • You can run older versioned projects on new versioned tools. Using TestExecute in /SilentMode, I think you'll still get prompted to do the conversion unless you add the "/ForceConversion" parameter... but then that does the actual conversion. So, it can be done, but you'll have to do a manual step each time you kick off a run using TestExecute to skip the conversion.

Obviously, the best solution is to get your whole team up on the latest version of TestComplete/TestExecute.  But, if you cannot do that, you'll need to figure out some way of making sure you can run the projects you need to.  Perhaps keep separate source bases, one for TC11 projects, one for TC12 projects.

Yes. Once a project is converted to a later version of the tool, you cannot run it on an earlier version.  You need TestExecute 12 in order to run TestComplete 12 projects.

      Thanks Robert for your response.

We have two TestComplete liscences used by two testers, one is TestComplete11 & other is TestComplete12. So, that means need TestExecute11 and TestExecute12  in order to run projects created from TC11 & TC12.

or Is it ok to run project created from TestComplete11 in TestExecute12.
