Multiple versions of TestComplete / TestExecute

Hello,

while installing the latest TC/TE versions, they don't overwrite the old one.

Is this on purpose? Can TestComplete/TestExecute 11 and 12 run independently on the same machine?

Please advise!

Thanks!!

It's been that way for the 5+ years I've been using TC, so I think it is on purpose.  :)

I believe they can run separately but once you move a test up to a newer version then it can't be run in the old version after that.

Correct. TestComplete, on an upgrade, doesn't over-write previous versions. This is to allow what Marsha_R mentions... that you can run projects created by previous versions of TC without having to do a conversion. Once the project is converted, you cannot run that project in an older version. There are certain objects and such in older versions of TestComplete that have been deprecated in favor of newer technology so there is an advantage to having multiple versions... it prevents you having to refactor code if you are using some of those older objects.
