Switching endpoints before a run

Hi Ali,

you can accomplish this in several ways;

1) Define the endpoint you want to use in a global property, use that property via property-expansion, and then use different soapui.properties files to override the default setting

2) Create a load script in your project which will be run every time the project is loaded; this script can update the endpoints of all your requests depending on some external setting/trigger/etc..

Right now I have 3 seperate projects pointing to different environments. I want to be able to set these endpoint dynamically at run time.

Hopefully a solution that will require the least amount of modification to existing scripts.

So we have about sixteen webservices. We test each service against 3 environments each obviously having different endpoints.

It would be no problem for me to add these 3 different endpoint for each interface using services 'service endpoints.

So the question for you would be. Is it possible that before a project loads up (via command line) through some groovy script I am able to assign the endpoint I want to 'all requests and testrequests'. I am able to do this using GUI just not sure how to do accomplish this in a command-line / groovy situation.

any other solution would ofcourse be acceptable. you know best.

ok.. how about the following:

1) Create a project-level property containing the endpoint with a default value
2) Use that property with property-expansion in your endpoints:

${#Project#mainEndpoint}

3) Create a load-script for the project (which is run every time the project gets loaded) in the project editor. The script needs to check some external source for an alternative value and set the property if available. For example:

def filename = context.expand( '${projectDir}\\endpoint.properties' )
def file = new java.io.File( filename )
if( file.exists() )
{
    def props = new java.util.Properties()
    props.load( new java.io.FileReader( file ))
    def endpoint = props.get( "mainEndpoint" )
    if( endpoint != null && endpoint.trim().length() > 0 )
    {
      project.setPropertyValue( "mainEndpoint", endpoint )
      log.info( "Changed mainEndpoint to [" + endpoint + "]" )
    }
}
else log.info( "Missing [" + filename + "]" )

This script checks for a endpoint.properties file in the same folder as the project file, if found it reads the properties and assigns the mainEndpoint property to the corresponding project-property. The file should be in "standard" property-format, ie:

mainEndpoint=....

Then just make sure there is a corresponding file available in your different environments.

is it possible that when soapui starts, and the groovy files get loaded, some Test Properties (project level) get created if they are specified in the groovy script.

so for example, I would like each of my project to have a 'username=ali' property/value available. I would like to specify this property in my script library since it can change frequently.

Is there some way to accomplish this ?
