Asking good questions and managing notifications

How to ask a question that gets answered

The fastest answers go to questions that someone can reproduce in a minute. Before you post:

  1. Search first. Paste your error message into search, since someone may have solved it already.
  2. Pick the right category for your product, and add a tag.
  3. Write a specific title. “ReadyAPI 3.50: SSL handshake fails with client certificate” beats “Help please”.
  4. Include four things:
    • Product and version
    • The exact error text (pasted, not a screenshot of text)
    • Steps to reproduce
    • What you’ve already tried
  5. Share code in code blocks. Wrap it in triple backticks.
  6. Redact secrets. Remove keys, passwords and customer data from logs and screenshots.
  7. Close the loop. When a reply fixes it, click Solved on that reply. If you fixed it yourself, post what worked.
