Working with Flex objects

To help us investigate the behavior, please perform the steps below:



1. Execute the collectFlashInjectorConfigurationIE (or collectFlashInjectorConfigurationFF if you are using Firefox) routine in TestComplete without interrupting it manually (the routine has to open two pages in Internet Explorer (or Firefox) and collect some additional information):

2. After the execution is over, the test log will be opened. In the Log Items panel, right-click the only node and choose the "Export to..." pop-up menu item.



3. Export the execution results to a multipart hypertext storage using the dialog that appears and send us the resulting file.

Thank you for collecting the information. To check if the mechanism used by TestComplete works correctly in your setup, please follow the instructions below:



1. Close all web browsers.



2. Add the following four lines to the mm.cfg file:



AS3Trace=1

ErrorReportingEnable=1

TraceOutputFileEnable=1

TraceOutputBuffered=1



3. Start IE and open the web page with your tested Flex application. After the page is shown, close IE.



4. After this, you should see the following file created on the disk:

C:\Documents and Settings\YOUR_USER_NAME\Application Data\Macromedia\Flash Player\Logs\flashlog.txt



If the file is not there, let me know. If it's there, proceed with the next step.



5. Open the file in a text editor and search for the following text:

FlexClient::Agent



If you can't find this text, it means that the Flash Player does not load FlashInjector.swf as it should. Let me know if this is the case.



6. If you can find the text, but TestComplete does not recognize the application as a Flex app, please zip the "flashlog.txt" file (it may be quite large in the unpacked state) and send it to us.

I just installed a trial version to try to make your application (developed in flex -ActionScript 3.0-) worked with Testcomplete, but it's not working.

I used the FlexInjector method and for this purpose :

• I create the mm.cfg file on <Users>\<User_name>


•   I add the appropriate link PreloadSwf=C:\Program Files\Automated QA\TestComplete 8\Open Apps\Flex\FlashInjector.swf


• Finally Add the fully-qualified name of the <TestComplete>\Open Apps\Flex folder to the list of trusted locations in Flash Player’s settings.

After doing all of that, TestComplete continues to display the error message saying that my .swf file is not prepared to be tested.



Could you help me please ?

Thank you for your post. TestComplete can record and play back on my flex application (my mm.cfg file was not located at the good place). However, I am meeting other issues. My flex objects do not contain enough methods (the click.button() is not available for example). In addition, I am not able to make Properties Checkpoint (even all checkpoint methods) work on my Flex appllication.

Can I have your help for those issues please ?

When TestComplete records my steps from a flex application, it use the click(X,Y) method. I'd like to replace this method by another one in order to be able to run, in play back mode, my scripts from any machine that has any screen resolution.

I am facing the same issue as Socrate where it is trying to use the co-ordinates rather than identifying the flash objects directly.





I followed the steps mentioned above and I believe I have the Flash Debugger installed, mm.cfg file at the right location and can also find the text "FlexClient::Agent" in the flashlog.txt file. 





I attached all the files for your reference.
