Waiting until the bar item state changes operation

 Hi,


In my application after Selecting a checkbox pop up will come but between these two operations 'waiting until the bar item state changes operation' is running and the script failing all the time. Its not showing the recorded steps, but only at the time running the script.

How can I stop/skip this operation.



Please review the screenshot.

    It looks like, after the checkbox is clicked, there's some other step that needs to be executed that is not getting found.  What are the steps right after the check box click in your recorded test?

    Is there sometimes a brief delay between when the checkbox is clicked and the dlgUserInformation window is displayed?



    Also, if you stop the project at that point, are there any errors or warnings in the resulting log file?



    The screen shots only really show half the story, the log file will give a lot more information (I hope).

    What ever the messages will come in the logs if the script fails, the same messages are coming if I stop the script run.



    I found the below information in the Logfile. Please review the below information and if this is not you are looking for, please let me know how to navigate



    The bar item stays in the unchecked state.

    When you click the check box, I'm guessing that the web page itself refreshes.  TestComplete, after clicking on a check box, tries to check the state of the check box to make sure it completed successfully.  So, what you're experiencing is that TestComplete is trying to find the state of the check box but cannot.



    What you might want to do is look into actually setting the checked state of the check box (possibly a property called "Checked" or a method called "SetChecked") which would not necessarily go through the GUI to set the box but would have the same effect on your application.

    Yes, Bob you are correct the page it self refreshes when I check the check box.


    How can I see the checked state of the check box means checked or setchecked and can you please send the steps to stop running this operation('Waiting until the bar item state changes operation')

    Use the object spy in TestComplete to find out the available properties and methods on your check box (see http://smartbear.com/support/viewarticle/11926/)



    The message that you are seeing is due to TestComplete waiting for the check box state to be recognized but, because of the page refresh, TestComplete has lost its "handle" to the check box.  If you use the Checked or SetChecked properties, if they are available, you should no longer experience this problem.

    After I set the object spy on the steps, steps are changed according to the attachment and all the steps are failing, please find the details in the second attachment.

    You're using "ClickButton" on a check box.  I'm not certain that will work at all.



    As mentioned above, you should look to see if there is a "Checked" property you can use, a "ClickChecked" method you can use, or a "SetChecked" method that you can use to set the value of the check box.  Sample code is as follows:



    Checked Property

    MyApp.MyCheckBox.Checked = true




    ClickChecked Method

    MyApp.MyCheckBox.ClickChecked(true)




    SetChecked Method

    MyApp.MyCheckBox.SetChecked(true)




    Which technique you use is all going to be dependent on what your component supports.
