TestComplete 9.2 can't recognise objects on Win8

Hi,

I'm using the latest TestComplete 9.2. I have no problems with the object spy seeing objects on 2008. However, when I try Win8, the object viewer can't recognice any of the installer screens as before. The application is just a normal install wizard.

Am I missing some plugin?

Thanks,

A.

    Hi Brandon,

I haven't try TestComplete on Win8 yet, but I think that clarification of Tanya's questions makes sense: do you start TestComplete as Administrator? I.e. do you right-click the shortcut and select 'Run as Administrator' option? And what about UAC?

  • Any information on this? I assume Win8 is supported by TestComplete 9.2 as Server 2012 is!

    Thanks,

    J.

  • Hi Jack,

TestComplete 9.20 does support Windows 8. The only limitation is that testing Metro apps is impossible in TC. Do you start TestComplete as an Administrator? Is UAC turned off?

  • I'm having the same problem it seems. I'm using the latest 9.30.3373.7 in Windows 8. The object spy is unable to allocate objects for a windows installer. This isn't an issue on Windows 7. Seems when I attempt to use the object spy the entire desktop is determined the target rather than the installer window. I think the support agent in this thread should try it before answering, obviously theres an issue in Windows 8. Were you able to find a work around this Jack?
