Support for QML?

Does anybody know, if Testcomplete 8 supports also applications written in QML?

  • Hi Stephanie,

The degree to which TestComplete recognizes objects in an application depends more on the controls used in the application and the environment in which the application runs. As far as I know, QML is usually used for mobile phone applications. Could you please describe your scenario and the task you need to accomplish in detail?

    Hi Allen,

thanks for your reply, we are planning to develop a new software generation using QT and as description language QML, because it should also work on MAC. So for our actual software we already use Testcomplete. It would be great if we can also use Testcomplete for the new software, if possible. I hope, this is what you would like to know?

  • Hi Stephanie,

Not quite, actually. I'd like to know whether the tested application is a desktop application which is supposed to be run on a PC or a mobile phone application. Also, if the application is supposed to be run on a PC, how the application's executable will look like? You mentioned that the application will run on multiple platforms, so will it use Java runtime environment?

It is a desktop application, using mono instead java runtime and should be runable on different platforms. So I guess, its not possible to test it with testcomplete by the usual way?

    Thanks a lot!

  • Hi Stephanie,

Unfortunately, the information we currently have still isn't enough to say anything for sure about this. Let's do it this way: ask your developers to create a simple application similar to the one you are going to test (just a single form with a single button will be enough). Send the application to us via our Contact Support form along with the steps necessary to launch the application on a Windows machine. We will see how TestComplete works with the application and tell you whether it will be possible to work with the application via an approach more advanced than a black-box mode.
