Solved: Additional information is not shown when posting a message
Hello,
Today Test Complete 8.7 started to do that strange behavior: When something is posted in the Log, the Additional Information panel shows no information at all. For example:
Log.Message("Message", "Additional Info");
Will post the message "Message", but when you click on it, the Additional Information panel is empty.
I tried to reinstall TC 8.7, and didn't solve it. I tried to uninstall it, reboot and install it again and nothing. I installed version 8.6 and it didn't post anything also. I tried to import configuration from another computer (just in case) and didn't work also.
Any idea of what it could be?
-- Solved!
While writing it down, I remembered that the Additional Information panel can render HTML, so... What if TC is not the problem? Could it be Internet Explorer?
And that was the problem. To develop for IE pre 9, I usually uninstall the IE9 update from Control Panel/Programs and Features/Installed Updates, so when system is restarted the IE8 is restored. But some time later, Windows Vista updates IE8 to IE9. In one of these updates, something went wrong.
To check if that's what happened to you, just open IE9 and go to Help/About Internet Explorer. If browser version is not shown, there you are!
I hope this post can help you (and I also hope that you don't need to use it!), so it took me half a morning until I found the problem.
See you!
