Problems connecting to host VM machine

I am new to the process of trying to distribute testing to other servers, and I am having problems with testcomplete connecting to my host machine and picking up the project I am looking to run.

I have watched through the Video on this process and can follow the steps, however I am running the latest version 9.31.3889.7 which has a different UI layout to the video.

Going through the steps in the Video I have added the host machine and I can verify this, now after this I have created the job but there is no field to pass the project field in this section and from what I can see this may be the base path field in the host settings. However whenever I try to provide this I either get the program lock up and crash, or when the folder explorer window appears then it does not display my mapped drives to be able to select the project on my workstation.

My workstation is running Windows 7 and my host machine is Server 2008R2, it is running VMware Workstation 9.0.2 build-1031769 and I have tried both NAT and bridged network settings for the VM. Windows Firewall is switched off and DEP is only for windows services.

  • Chris,

Try typing the base path manually. The same problem occurred here.

    Hi Tanya,

I have read the tutorials and the problem is the UI they are using is version 7 which is not the same as version 9.31 I am using, I have followed as closely as possible but the part on the job where you specify the project does not exist in my version and is the problem I am having.

Thanks for the suggestion Mark, I will give this a try

Just an update on this, writing the path into the field does seem to have helped and through playing around with other settings in relation to the distribution I have been able to run the tests I had setup on my VM
