[Pro Tip] Survive mobile wreckage with the help of TestComplete

Somewhere in time Robert Martin posted here a topic about how he detected unwanted software with the help of TestComplete.

Now it's my turn for the thanks to SmartBear.

 

Preface: I'm not sharing all data from my mobile to the cloud.

Problem: For some reason my mobile stopped responding to touches on the lower one-third part of the screen. Exactly where the soft buttons (that do not change their location when the phone is rotated) are located. With no screen replacement possible in the nearest future.

Solution: 'The phone is fully functional, it's only the touchscreen that does not process touches. Why not to use TestComplete with its Mobile testing feature and use mouse to control the lower part of mobile screen ?' And voila: I was able to get access to all data on mobile and transfer them to the new one.
