Keys method sometimes adds period(.) in the middle of text

From your message "machines situated in Munich, I see this is predominantly on these machines" I understand that your organization operation is global running multiple Windows system as well as keyboard languages.
If I am correct, it could be a combination of OS and Keyboard, and perhaps you can switch the OS to English US with single keyboard to try it out. 
Another thing to look into is the provided text format ASCII Unicode differences.
