Issue with drop down list.

The best way to get past that problem is to have your test click on the specific item in the drop down list.  Most drop down list objects recognized by TestComplete can be called like so:

MyApp.MyForm.MyDropDownList.ClickItem("MyItemName")

That way, regardless of co-ordinates, it will always select the correct item.

Use the "clickitem(itemname)" code wherever you're calling the click on the combo box.  For example, if your click looks like this:

MyApp.MyComboBox.Click(10,20)

replace that with

MyApp.MyComboBox.ClickItem("MyItem")

That is assuming that your combo box is being recognized as a combo box and supports the click item method.

I'm not sure why you would need to install it on more than one system.  Could you clarify this question?

I would suggest you replace the second line in that code with

Call dropDownForm.ClickItem("Unsafe")

It appears that you've mapped the specific item and are then calling a "click" on it when you should be just clicking on the item in the drop down.



Without knowing your application, that's my best guess.

Actually we are first seeing whether Testcomplete supports our application

i.e, whether it is able to identify all the labels... so we are trying with

trial version 1st which is installed in single pc now, but want to

install in one more system and want to try for other application

too and then we want to decide to buy the tool.

we have almost same combo box as in image.

but its a Infragistics.Win.UltraWinEditors.UltraComboEditor type of drop down.

Again, I'd suggest calling the ClickItem method on the actual drop down as indicated above, not on clicking the actual item.  This will make sure that you select the item regardless of the order of items in the list, screen resolution, timing, etc.

the problem is while recording only i edit the dropdown values and save it

so during playback when its editing the values it takes some different values..

which shldn't happen rght.. can you guide me.

because in my application i need to see how edit is working and check in

automation if its working fine..

One more issue is i need to login to the application using my login credentials

but in the testcomplete the password is displayed which i dont want to

happen, is there any way to decrypt that password.

i am recording using keystroke.
