As Robert said, the current latest TC version does not support Chrome.
The good news are that there is TC 8.7 Beta running now (as announced by Sergei at http://smartbear.com/forums/forum/post/?mode=singleThread&thread=e8340637-7e63-4733-a5f6-61ba80fdc6bc) and this version provides Chrome support.

As for tests for Web testing, I would recommend several articles from TestComplete Technical Papers page (http://smartbear.com/support/articles/testcomplete/). Namely:
