Get Row Count from grid in TestComplete

Hi,

In my Application we have to check grid count after deleting one Item from List(Grid).We have used wRowCount to get count. But It's able to check when the grid have upto 100 records only, means it is able to count only Visible Items on the screen. It is not counting Items which will be visible only when we scroll down. So, Case is getting failed.

My Environment: TestComplete8.1

Application : Client Server

Please give me suggestion to rectify this Issue

    Try using approxcount property if your grid supports this property. approxcount holds number of rows in a grid.

    Hi Jhansi,


    Jyothi is right. If TestComplete recognized your tested grid control as Open, you can easily access its native properties and use them to obtain grid's rows, their quantity and values, and so on.

    Please clarify a few things:

    1.

    i cant get the row count option


    Does TestComplete show the error message? If it does, please post here the exact text of this message.

    2. Does TestComplete recognize your application as Open? In other words, can you access your grid's native properties from TestComplete?

    hi , 

    i can access my delphi 7 grid , but when i try to get the row count , it is not working , how can i get the row count using Test Complete 8.60,  how to write vbscript in Test complete for getting row count for Delphi 7 Grid ? can you guide me for that ??

    I don't know Delphi 7 grid specifically. Here is what I think you might look into. Your wRowCount property may only have whatever data is currently fetched or disdplayed. I am given this thought by your saying it only goes up to 100. It makes me think that the underlying code is fetching data from the source in bits. You may need to rethink how you get at the grid or the grid's data. I had one grid in which instead of



    For i = 1 to grid.RowCount



       grid.Row = i

    ... do stuff

    Next



    I could do



    grdTest.MoveFirst

    Do While Not
    grdTest.EOF

    '' Do whatever operation you want
    to do.

    grdTest.MoveNext

    Loop



    Where eof was reporting accurately as more data was dynamically fetched.



    Look into what is available for native properties and methods of the grid. You may want to look and see if the grid is somehow bound. You may be able to get to the grid's data.

    The developers of the application under test can likely help you figure out how to use the native properties and methods of the grid to get what you want done done. I have help files for a lot of the controls that my application uses. That can be helpful as well.

     thanks for your kind replay, Actually the problem is , if i try to write a VBscript code in Test Complete 8.60 , the row option is not working in tool itself , the column option is working but the row is not at all working. even i cant see the row option in tool itself. please help me for that .
