Error installing TC10.50?

Hi

I'm trying to update my install from 10.40 to 10.50.

It gets so far through then throws up "Error 1303. The installer has insufficient privileges to access this directory: G:\PrivateAssemblies. The installation cannot continue. Log on as admin or contact your system admin."

I am logged on as Admin and I ran the installer with Admin rights. Same result.

Any ideas?

It would appear that the folder in question is something created by TestComplete during install and it had somehow got itself all locked up yesterday.

Tried to view the folder this morning and Explorer locked up and stopped responding.

Rebooted my machine and the folder had gone.

So tried to install TestComplete again and it worked fine. Once complete, that folder was back again (with a time stamp of during the install) and has two DevExpress DLL's in it.

No idea why it decided to lock up. Never happened when I've upgraded before ...
  • New error!

OK. It installed, but now when I start TC I'm getting:

"Cannot obtain information about the plug-in(s) from the program C:\......\TestComplete10\Bin\extensions\tcjunit.pls file. Reason: The file does not exist."

    And the same for "tcjuniteditor.pls".

But it does at least start once you click past those.

Looking like a bit of a buggy release .....

Hm-m-m... My update went fine and TC10.50 works without problems...

What if you try to uninstall it, clean installation folder if it has some leftovers and install TC a-new?

  • In effect, that's what I ended up doing.

When the initial install failed, it rolled back. Except the roll back did not restore the previous version of TC it had overwritten. So it left me with nothing. After the reboot, no trace of a TC install - except my script extensions folder. So I copied that out elsewhere, deleted the three or four leftover folders, and it worked.

No idea about the junit issues it's flagging up now. I don't use junit so as long as the rest of TC keeps working, I can live with it complaining about those.

Never had any issues with previous updates. They've always gone in cleanly ....
