Distributed test - Tried to open the error dialog. Message: The project suite 'NetworkSuiteSlave.pjs' was not found..

My distributed execution for TestComplete is failing to run. I have two jobs defined and active each with one defined and active task. Job 1, task A must run before Job 2 task A. Job 1 fails with the above error and Job 2 succeeds. Both run on the same host. I do not know where to look for possible causes.
  • Hi David,

    It looks like a slave machine cannot find the project file. Typically, this happens for one of the following reasons:

    - the path to the project file is incorrect;

    - the specified project file actually does not exist;

    - if the network path is used, the most probable reasons for this problem are as follows:

       -- the needed network folder with the specified project is not shared;

       -- the needed permissions are not given for the shared folder.

    Thanks for the reply. Here is a little more detail:

    • We have an automated process (CruiseControl task) that runs at 9:00pm each evening and in the script, there is a line that launches the TestComplete.exe file with a parameter that directs it to load a project (TestDriver.pjs) and execute a keyword test called RunAllThings.

    • This task fails consistently (gets the error message I added in the first post)when attempting to open the first .mds file and consistently runs the second .mds file.

    • Curiously, when I open the CC GUI and force the CruiseControl project to run it sometimes succeeds and sometimes fails. i.e. it appears to be an intermittent issue.

    • I can't find the .pjs file in question anywhere and furthermore, I'm not aware of defining that project file. I assume this is something TestComplete creates for me.

    I'll provide more detail as it becomes available.
  • Hi David,

    What TestComplete version are you using? Our Q&A team observed a similar issue in TC 9. It was fixed in TC 10.40. Thus, it's worth updating to TestComplete 10.40 if you haven't done it yet.

    I'm running 9.31.3889.7. To upgrade, we'll have to upgrade 4 licenses. I should know the answer to the question, but don't - does it cost to upgrade?
  • Hi David,

    You could download the trial version of TestComplete 10 to check how it works with your tests.

    As for the issue in TestComplete 9, I suggest that you contact our Support team to investigate it. If they have a ready solution for the issue - they will provide you with it. However, it's unlikely that our R&D team will create a special patch for this product version.
