No, sorry, I am not aware of the reasons of creating so big temporary files. I have several guesses though:
The only one thing I can say, that since TestComplete 4.0 I split my tests so that each launch of TestComplete doesn't take more than half an hour and usually I don't have any problems.
As for restarting AUT - it is a good practice to restart it at the beginning of each test, because each test must be "sure" that application is up an running and is in the "initial" state (e.g. user is logged in, all additional messages are processed and closed, etc.)
- These files are generated by TestComplete. In this case only guys from AQA support can help you investigate this
- These files are generated by your AUT. Then only developers of your application can help
- These files are generated by .NET assemblies or other Windows libraries. I have no idea who can help here :)
