Cross browser testing failing on browser already running message

As per the subject title I am getting the above error message trying to setup a cross browser test, however the browser and the related process is not running and when the test runs the log in page for my site just sits and cycles through each stage and fails.

I am running a VM hosting my site and running the test on my local workstation at this point on windows 7 pro 64 bit, I initially thought it may be the recorded test so I have recorded this again and tried using firefox rather than IE to record and still get the same result.

I did find that adding IE as the first browser to run the test on, even if I was to right click on firefox and run the test from the selected option after the firefox browser opened then IE would open and the only way to prevent this was to remove from the list even though it should not have occured.

I have run tests like this on other sites and I have not had this issue before and as I cannot see any reference to IE or that the browser process is already running, has anyone experienced something similar to this?

Ok it turns out that the test is picking up the instance id for the log in page rather than the name, I am currently trying to sort this but can anyone point me to an article detailing how to do this?
  • Hi Tanya I am getting the issue.I recorded a test in Chrome. It plays back fine in Chrome. In IE 8 the broswer itself doesnt open up.In Firefox the browser opens up but does not enter the url and the test fails.
