Chrome minimizes and reopens every on screen action

We're experiencing an issue where for every on screen action Chrome minimizes and reopens. I created a brand new test suite and wrote a simple test navigating around the smartbear site and we are still running into this issue. We can't run tests because every time we open a dropdown it goes away when chrome minimizes and re opens.

We've been on TC version 15.75.22.7 for two months with no problems. (Waiting on IT to upgrade TC to latest version to see if that helps) Chrome did just update to version 139.0.7258.67. I have opened a case with support but wondering if anyone else has run into this issue with the latest chrome update.

Thanks in advance

Also having this issue. Company does not want to allow a rollback on Chrome version...hopefully the new TC version comes soon :(

We are experiencing the same issue with TestComplete 15.76 and Chrome 139.

Is there an earlier version of TestComplete where the problem won’t occur despite using Chrome 139?

I have an open ticket for the issue and was told the release with the fix should be out early this week. Well, we're at midweek now, so I'm expecting the release any time now.

Don't get too excited too soon :D

I also opened a ticket and received a response today (08-28) saying : “A permanent fix is included in the upcoming 15.77 release, which is planned for early next week".

For anyone still dealing with this issue, promptly make a ticket to SmartBear and explain that you want the hot fix installation for this issue "TestComplete1576_TC-109017-fix-chrome-minimizing-maximiz__" I installed this the other day and it has resolved my issue.

I can confirm this. I just tested out the patch and it's working great for me. I haven't yet tested on our test servers running Windows Server which didn't have the same issue, but on my local machine, running Win 11, it's working.

I just got the update to TC & TE 15.77.6

The issue is solved for me and TC can interact with the latest version of chrome again.

Is there a hotfix/patch that doesn't involve rolling back chrome or updating TC to latest version?

Support sent me a patch last week. We ended up not using it and waiting for the official update but other people commented saying it worked. I would suggest opening a support ticket

Not sure why you don't want to upgrade to the latest version. I am guessing you have other things that break if you upgrade?

I will say that we have been stuck on 15.71 for months. At first 15.72 was causing issues with our web tests. We kept trying every release when it came out, eventually 15.76 fixed our web issues, but now our Win Apps were broken so we stayed on 15.71. Until this chrome update broke our web tests completely.

I put in a ticket for the Chrome issue 2 weeks ago and received a hotfix file last week, Unfortunately, while that hotfix did fix the browser issues, it still broke our Win App tests. We had to upgrade half of our computers to the 15.76 hotfix so we could run our web tests, then the other half had to stay on 15.71 to run our Win App tests.

This week though we installed 15.77 and it finally fixed all the issues we have had in our tests since 15.72 came out. Web tests and our Win App tests ran just fine yesterday.

So it might be worthy trying the 15.77 update to see if it fixes your issues. If not, you should put in a ticket if you haven't already. If you already have one, you should update it to let them know you are still having issues.
