Hi Guys,
I have Chrome 50 and TestComplete 11.31 installed on my computer – everything works fine. In addition to this, our QA Team has confirmed that their web tests work fine with the latest browser version.
Soni, please make sure that SmartBear TestComplete Extension is installed and enabled in Chrome: chrome://extensions/
Also, check if you have the Web | Chrome Support TestComplete extension enabled (File | Install Extensions…).
If you have both extensions enabled, I recommend that you contact our Support Team to investigate this issue. You can reach out to them here: http://support.smartbear.com/product-list/
Joe, please check if you have the extensions enabled as well.
Hi,
Thanks for your reply Tanya.
I have the extension enabled in the Chrome: chrome://extensions/ and I checked the the Web | Chrome Support is enabled under File/ Install extensions. Please see the following screenshots. Does it look correct ?

Hi Soni,
Thanks for sharing screenshots.
Everything looks great. I recommend that you submit this issue to our TestComplete support Team as some investigation is required here.
Thanks in advance.

Coming back to this, I had to verify that I was still seeing the problem (especially when Tanya says otherwise :smileyhappy: )
Rebooted the VM I was using... everything was fine! Uninstalled, reinstalled Chrome. Fine. Tried older Chrome, latest Chrome. Fine. Reinstalled TestComplete. Fine.
I spent more time than I care to say trying to reproduce this, all to no avail.
If you find that TestComplete still can't spy the Chrome objects, then:
- uninstall Chrome and TestComplete
- reboot (!)
- install Chrome
- terminate any running Chrome sessions
- install TestComplete (making sure to install the Web module)
- start Chrome and check that the TestComplete extension in Chrome is present and enabled (chrome://extensions/)
- check that the Web plug-ins in TestComplete are present and enabled (File | Install extensions)
- retry the Object Spy on Chrome
and if you still can't spy the Chrome objects, check the Object Browser in TestComplete to see if the chrome process is recognized as a Browser, and submit a support case.
And remember...
always listen to Tanya.

Also please check file versions of binary modules located in
c:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\SmartBear\tcCrExtension\egnheagkhpgphnfbmhmjjckbeocfcjae\
Several times I saw that these files have not been updated. In this case you have to uninstall TC, remove this folder and install TC again.
