Is there a way we can capture the event log of the application being tested?
I want to start capturing the event log of the application when test execution starts, up until the completion of the test execution. So that in the case of any bugs being found, we can send the event logs along with the test results back to the dev team.

In addition to the suggestions provided by HKosova you can follow the below steps
1. Before starting your automation Filter the Windows Application event view logs with the source name as you Application under test. and provide the other filter details manually or through a WMI script you can achieve this.
2. Follow the link provided by HKosova to take a backup of the event logs (This script you can attach to the On Stop test event handler code)
If you have power shell then you can try the below mentioned query
Get-EventLog -LogName APPLICATION -EntryType Error > Result.txt
