I've seen that message when the keyword test is already in my project but hidden in the wrong folder somewhere. Could this be the case with yours? - heidi_nRegular ContributorThis is the problem. Is there a path where it's ideally supposed to exist? I can't tell where I need to move it to.

Test 1 (the problem test) exists in all of these places:
projectsuite/project/keywordtests
projectsuite/project/keywordtests/visualizer
projectsuite/project/keywordtests/visualizer/test1
projectsuite/project/keywordtests/visualizer/test1/visualizer
projectsuite/project/keywordtests/visualizer/test1/visualizer/test1
Test 2,3,4 exist in projectsuite/project/keywordtests/visualizer/test1/visualizer and work fine. - Marsha_R

In Explorer, all my .tcKDTest files are in
TestComplete 9 Projects\ProjectName\KeywordTests
Inside TestComplete, in the KeywordTests folder, I have several subfolders
-TestArea1
-TestArea2
-TestArea3
etc.
These folders don't show in Explorer. When I get the "can't add child item" message, it's usually because I already have the test in one of these folders somewhere, just not in the one I expected.
Inside TestComplete, do you see anything in the KeywordTests folder besides your tests? - heidi_nRegular ContributorIn TC Keyword Test folder, I only see Tests 2,3,4. Test 1 is no where to be seen in TestComplete...
- heidi_nRegular ContributorAnother possible problem: The test in question is checked out in my default changelist, but I can't check in my default changelist because files are "open for read".
- heidi_nRegular ContributorOk I cleaned up my Perforce 4 folders and this is how I have it now. Test1 exists in the following folders:
Perforce 4:
projectsuite/project/keywordtests/visualizer/test1 (Checked out in Default Changelist)
projectsuite/project/keywordtests/visualizer/test1/visualizer/test1 (Checked in) - Marsha_R

Will TestComplete let you add Test1 into KeywordTests now? - heidi_nRegular ContributorI deleted that test from explorer and perforce, but it still won't let me add...

Can you post a screenshot of the error message?
