Calendar Date Control Issue
Hi Guys, I am trying to capture a Calendar Date Control on a form , When I click the Calendar control combo and try to select the today date, after Running the script I am getting the attached issue...

Actually, Script will run on upcoming days, so by selecting today date will always select whatever is current date. thats'y I can't enter manually input to date.
Well, you could.
You could use date/time to get the current date back and use that to drive the correct input to the calendar control.
I do something similar with time sensitive tests. I have to set a time, slightly in the future, in some of my tests to trigger certain events. I use the current time, add a few seconds/minutes to it. And break the result down and enter it into an onscreen control.
It's a little more work, but by no means impossible.
Doing system time adjustments, which then have to revert the system back to the correct current time afterwards, is WAY more fun! :smileytongue:
(I use an online API to get the correct time back and reset the computer)
But going back to your problem .... if your mappings are correct, then it probably is a synchronisation problem.
As a dirty verification, put a 5 or 10 second delay before you try and click the "Today" button. If that works, then you were trying to click it before it had a chance to render.
But that's a dirty fix. I wouldn't use it long term. Something to verify it exists before you try to use it would be the correct way to go about it.
I'll also point out the problem waiting to happen in your previous step ....
It clicks at "Point (88,9)" of the "dtpPymtDate" object. I presume that's the down arrow control at the side of the date dropdown?
In which case, you are using co-ordinates to click on it. Not good. If run at a different resolution, or someone messes with the font sizes or scaling, it could easily click in the wrong place and stop working. Applying clicks by co-ordinates is fragile and very prone to breaking. Should be avoided at all possible costs.
Even activating the control and then using a keypress to bring up the calendar would be a more robust way to do it if you can't isolate the down button directly to click on it.
One thing to add to what others have already said:
If the control is something that your developers put in "off the shelf", meaning it's a control that they, themselves, have not developed and created, then specifically clicking on the "Today" button is not necessarily a requirement for your test. If you are not required to test, specifically, all aspects of the component and you only need to make sure that behavior of OTHER areas of the system work correctly when the date = Today, then you might even be better off using SetText of Keys on your date field and just entering in the date using aqDateTime.Today and the aqConvert.DateTimeToFormatStr methods in combination to enter the date into the field. Might be less of a headache in the long run than trying to deal with components that have delay and rendering issues.
I have put delay of 20 sec but still getting the same issue. Actually Folk the date I am choosing the date is the date of invoice need to print on it , thats'y it must be entered.
In which case, I refer you back to my initial reply:
"Your error says the "&Today" window (another horrible object name!) is not visible. So it looks like that's the part it isn't finding. I presume thats some sort of container for the button within the calendar popup? How have you mapped it? My guess is the object properties (of the "&Today" window) are changing between runs ..."
Check the mapping properties of all the objects in the tree before your button. It sounds like one of them (the one mentioned above most likely) is not being found at run time.

As Colin_McCrae said, at this point, it seems that there is something going on with the mapping. As for choosing the date, as a work around, why is it not feasible to set the date field directly rather than having to click the "Today" button? Seems like, if the goal is to select the print date, then you're not testing the control, you're testing what happens when the control sends the data. Try setting the date directly using the text portion of the component.

Currently I found work around by selecting the date directly with clicking the today button, it seems my problem solve now only,
I have to change the date before running script again.
