Blank screen on the remote desktop window in Run State monitor Tab (NetworkSuite)

Hi,

When executing tasks via NetworkSuite (Automatic RDP session), one of them displays a blank screen for a remote desktop window of a slave host (VM) in the Run State tab. After a while, the display comes back to normal, meaning, I can visualize what is happenning on the remote desktop.

But at the end of the execution, the task has failed and the logs show that the test steps were executed but some failed due to user session is locekd.

I tried to run the same task with a manual RDP session, and it works well.

I tried to run on the same host, different tasks, project, and the problem is still present.

The same task running on other host (Automatic RDP session) work fine as well including on VM host machines.

There are recommendations proposed with regards to unlocking the session manually.

But how do you do that? I tried to log on the same machine with another machine, disconnect it. Then try to reboot, but no luck.

The tests are run in background, but TestComplete cannot interact with the GUI.

What do I need to do to unlock the session properly? Now I have one machine which is useless.

Thank you for your help

  • I have tried the command given by http://homeservershow.com/remote-desktop-session-locks-workstation-after-exit.html

    %windir%\System32\tscon.exe RDP-Tcp#0 /dest:console

    But it did not work.

What is frustrating, is that the verification of the host and the jobs work fine.

When it comes to run, the test steps are executed but some fail.

The same tests are run on another machine without issues

    Other comment:

I noticed that when I run distributed tests via an automatic RDP session, and I connect during the execution to the remote host (VM)  under test, the window in Run state tab becomes white.

I did this operation because I wanted to unlock a test that was blocked to due the appearance of an unexpected window.

So probably, the white screen might be caused due to the fact I opened a manual RDP session while an automatic RDP session is already opened. And both RDP session are opened with the same user.

  • Hi again,

I have registered a case to the customer support (00052210)

After investigation, I found out that on the Virtual machine (where TestExecute is installed), by uninstalling the Automated Testing Bridge SW, the screen monitor in TestComplete comes back to normal, no more white screen.

However, if I want to use QAComplete, I need to reinstall the SW. Any alternative?

My first conclusion is that the presence of Automated Testing Bridge SW on a VM host disturbed the visualization of this host via Testcomplete while executing distributing tests.

I will report it to the customer support.

Do you know if a newer version of the Automated Testing Bridge SW has been released, which could solve this issue?

I am using the version 9.8.6.

If you have any information please let me know, thank you
