Black screen in Virtual Browser Loop Testing

I experience a rather persistent error when I run a test using the Virtual Browser Loop. The Chrome browser which emulates the mobile browser turns black and stays black during the whole loop instance. It still interacts with the content, specifically clicks where the element should be, but  my test fails, as the link clicked is not followed.

It fails persistently when I run my tests from Jenkins, but I have difficulties reproducing it by running the tests manually (on the same machine using both TestExecute and TestComplete).

Can anyone tell me what state the browser goes into and how to avoid it?

  • Hi Soren,

As far as I understand, the issue persists only when you are executing your test from Jenkins, right? I guess the issue may be related to the fact that TestComplete started from Jenkins runs in a non-interactive user session. Thus, performing any GUI actions is impossible. Please refer to this thread where you can find the ways to overcome this.

No, this is not related to Jenkins. I see it also on my 'server' (which is a normal laptop) running the code directly in TestComplete and TestExecute as well as on my own desktop computer running TestComplete. (Sorry for saying I have 'difficulties to reproduce' manually; this is not the case. I was just lucky a couple of times.)

PS! I have no problems running GUI via Jenkins. Probably due to the Java Slave Agent which I have running.

PPS! I have just reported this in your support system as well with some more information.

  • Hi,

In this case, let's wait for the results of the investigation from our TestComplete Support.
