Actions in .NET app not recorded

Hi,

 

I’m new to TestComplete (12.41). I’m trying to record the following steps on a .NET 4.5 desktop app:

 

  1. Open desktop app by double-clicking the icon on the desktop
  2. Once the app is open, select File/Open from the menu bar of the app
  3. Enter the name of the file that I want to open
  4. Select File/Exit

 

The only action that gets recorded is step #1. There are no other actions recorded.

In Install Extensions, I have .NET Application Support, .NET Classes, Desktop Testing, UI Automation Support

 

What am I missing?

    Are you running TC in administrator mode?

     

    I had a similiar issue, where it wouldn't record any keyboard input, but everything else.

     

    Always running it in Admin mode fixed it for me.

      Thank you for your suggestion. I can't run as "Administrator". I can only run as "Elevated with Defendpoint". When I run as "Elevated with Defendpoint", the Test Complete app never starts. This is now an IT issue. 

      I will let you know what happens.

      I followed the steps in my original post. Nothing gets recorded except for the opening of the application.
